the good samaritan food pantry

The Good Samaritan Food Pantry operates bi-monthly, providing assistance to families in need. Families have the option to select their preferred distribution day from the two available options. Our regular distribution days are the first and third Friday of each month, with occasional adjustments due to holidays. Presently, we serve approximately 70 families residing in the Port Vue, Liberty, and Lincoln communities.
To utilize our services, individuals must provide proof of residence and sign a self-declaration document. Our pantry offers a shop-through system, allowing families to select essential grocery items from our shelves based on their family size. In addition, each family receives dairy products, three meat items (one beef, one chicken, and one poultry), bread (when available), three health and beauty items, a bag of government-provided items (such as juice, canned meat, pasta, pasta sauce, and assorted items), and a bag of miscellaneous items, including donated clothing, school supplies, and more.
Our food pantry is sustained through generous contributions from our congregation, community organizations, private donors, and grants obtained through the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. We are grateful for the abundant blessings we have received as a church, enabling us to serve the Lord through this ministry for many years, with the intention of continuing to do so in the future.

THE EMERGENCY FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TEFAP)

Applicants must meet the following requirements: reside within Port Vue, Lincoln, or Liberty, and provide proof of residency dated within the last 30 days. However, attendance at PVUMC exempts the requirement for specific residential location.
